Pineapple-Shaped Lamps is thrilled to announce auditions for their upcoming Fall 2019 production, WOLFCRUSH, a campy dark comedy full of blood, sex, hormones, and werewolves. This Philadelphia Fringe hit is the angsty lovechild of Ginger Snaps, Riverdale, and deliciously fun grindhouse flicks. Being gay in high school is hard. Being gay in the South is harder. And being gay while a bloodthirsty monster lurks just beyond the tree line is just insane. We welcome you to audition for this full moon fever dream about growing up, sex, hating your body, and all the lies you tell yourself to fall asleep.

This show does contain explicit content, including harsh language, sexual situations, and violence.

Auditions will be held Monday, June 3rd and Wednesday, June 5th from 7:00-9:00pm at the Community Arts Center. All auditionees will be performing cold readings from the script. Resume and headshots are welcome but not required. Callbacks will be Thursday, June 6th, 7:00pm-9:00pm, during which auditionees will read scenes from the play in pairs.

Show dates are Aug. 29 - Sept. 1, Sept. 5-8 at the Ruth & Bucky Stein Theatre, Thalian Hall.

Actors of all ethnicities, genders, and sexualities are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to audition! This play calls for a variety of voices and experiences. Even if you have little to no stage experience, come join us! It’ll be wild.

The Characters of WOLFCRUSH are as follows:

The Mayor/The Principal/The Detective (Female, Any Ethnicity, 30s-50s): Three hyper-masculine, unhelpful southern white dudes, who of course are played by a female-identifying actor. They are all completely absurd. One has a Walmart gift card for anyone who can find Billy Wilkerson, one snorts coke in his office, and one is obsessed with Marishka Hargitay. Two of them have a gun, but which two?

Kyle (Female, Any Ethnicity, 20s-30s): Student Vice President. Peppy, perky, spirited. Straight A’s, shirts ironed, everything has its place. Very concerned with appearances. She is SO excited to meet you and she DEFINITELY doesn’t say that to everyone!

Huck (Male, Caucasian, 20s-30s): Kyle’s boyfriend. Quarterback of the football team. High school heartthrob. Obnoxiously cocky. Good ol’ boy. You’re not sure if you want to kiss him or punch him. Strong and sturdy. Don’t make it weird, dude.

Beecher (Male, Person of Color, 20s-30s): Weird kid. Huck’s best friend. Why’s he always so awkward? Pendulums between forced confidence and crippling self-doubt. If you look at him wrong, he’ll burst into flames. Painfully adolescent. Full of hormones. Everything hurts, but boy is he horny.

Junyce (Female, Any Ethnicity, 20s-30s): The edgy new girl. Unstoppable bisexual steamroller. Could not give less of a shit what you think. Feisty, but fun. Shockingly confident. Sweet when she wants to be, sour when she has to be. Can and will beat you in a fight.
